Photography Competition and Exhibition 

A display of the entries from the Rhythm 'n' Rail Photography Competition.

Photography Competition:

Open to amateur photographers (any person who does not derive their primary income from a photography business), the Rhythm 'n' Rail photography competition consists of a Rhythm class, Rail class, Open class and Junior class. Entries will be showcased at the Festival.

Museum Music

An informal event with a variety of music, singing and poetry. People are encouraged to join in and participate, with anyone who wishes to bring a musical instrument welcome! Lunch and refreshments available from coffee shop.

Junee Lamb Dinner and Live Music

Junee lamb is renowned throughout Australia, so make sure you experience it during the Festival by enjoying a gourmet lamb dinner at the Railway Cafe, surrounded by live music by Bluegrass.

GEO Festival Grand Opening

Join us from 6.15pm for the unveiling of "Fanny" the Junee Mens Shed Train.

Come along and celebrate the official opening of the Festival, with live music, fine food, wine and special guests including; Festival Patron, Tim Fisher and entertainment by Mr Percival and Silver Fox.

Train Shuttles

Enjoy a nostalgic train trip on the historic 'Tin Hare' rail motors. The trains will shuttle visitors between Wagga Wagga and Junee, and Cootamundra and Junee. There will also be shuttle services from the Railway Cafe to the Wind in the Roundhouse Concert. BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL.

Show ‘n’ Shine (Tell)

Vintage and modern motorbikes, classic cars, hot rods, vintage lawn mowers and street machines will add to the display of veteran and vintage cars at the 2012 Junee Rhythm n Rail Festival.

Vehicles will assemble from 9.30am with the display in Humphries St open from 10.00am on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite vehicle in the People Choice Award.

Enjoy lunch and listen to stories about the vehicles as told by their owner.

Note: Unregistered vehicles may be put on show but need to be transported on registered trailers to site. Entry from the Lorne St end of Peel St and for your convenience, security has been arranged so feel free to take a Tin Hare train ride and enjoy Festival activities.

View Steam and Diesel trains as they wind their way around the detailed layouts.

Take the opportunity to try driving a model train yourself - Thomas the Tank Engine will be there for you to use on the You Drive model Railway. 

Model Railway Craftsmen will be on hand to answer questions about building your own layout too, should you be interested.

Gold coin donations towards exhibitors would be greatly appreciated.

Live Music & ‘Junee’s got Talent’

The main stage in the Festival precinct will be abuzz with activity, with a great line up of live music and performances to keep you entertained. The 'Junee's Got Talent' showcase is a highligh of the day.

Look out for Silver Fox who will be roaming through the festival precinct, featuring on the platform at the Railway Station, Memorial park and other various locations throughout Junee.

Second Time Around

Junee, have you wined and dined to the sounds of the Junee Junction Jazz Band in the past?

We are excited to welcome Junee's own Fred Commins back with his new outfit, Second Time Around.

Bring a picnic rug and enjoy their toe tapping traditional Jazz sounds on the stage in Humphries Street on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 March.

Australian Army Band Kapooka

Brought to you by Athenium Theatre. 

For 60 years, the Riverina has boasted a professional Military Band which is the envy of many other communities. The Australian Army Band Kapooka's main purpose is to support March Out parades at the Army Recruit Training Centre but they also perform widely within the community, both locally and internationally.

The Band currently consists of 26 full-time musicians and is led by Music Director, Major Peter Thomas. The music chosen for the Rhythm and Rail Festival will be mostly jazz oriented but no Military Band concert would be complete without a few marches and selections from Broadway. The program is designed to get your feet tapping and will appeal to the young, and the young at heart.
